Panel Mount

What is panel mounting?

Panel mounting refers to the methods and accessories used to attach various types of panels to walls, ceilings, or other structures. These accessories ensure that panels are installed securely and safely without compromising their aesthetic value. The range includes various fastening systems such as cams , clamps , hooks , and screw-in systems , each designed for specific applications and panel types. The right choice of mounting accessories is essential for a professional installation that is both functional and visually appealing.

How does panel mounting work?

Panel mounting works by using specific accessories that enable panels to be attached in a stable and secure manner. Depending on the type of panel and the mounting requirements, an appropriate method is selected to ensure the panel position. Panel cams use a twist-and-lock mechanism, clamps operate using clamping force without drilling, hooks utilize existing suspension points, and screw systems offer permanent attachment through direct anchoring. Each system has its own advantages in terms of ease of installation, load capacity, and visibility after mounting.

Types of panel mounting accessories

There are various accessories available for panel mounting, each with specific features and applications:

Panel ridges

What is a panel ridge?

A panel ridge (also called a suspension ridge or mounting ridge) is a small metal fastening component that is mounted in or on the edge of a panel so that the panel can be suspended from a cable, steel wire, or rail system.

Operation

The ridge is screwed into the panel (for wooden, aluminium, or MDF panels), but is not suitable for acoustic PET panels.

Function

• Creates a fixed suspension point
• Distributes tensile force over a smaller surface area
• Ensures a professional, neat finish
• Suitable for fixed mounting or removable systems

Applications

• Acoustic PET panels
• Aluminum sandwich panels
• Wooden or MDF displays
• Sign & exhibition panels
• Floating ceiling panels

Specification Ridge panel – M6 nickel-plated steel or bronze

Compact suspension bracket for panels and displays. Equipped with an internal M6 thread for easy mounting on steel cable or Perlon cord. Ideal for acoustic panels and presentation systems. Sturdy construction, neat finish, and high load capacity.

Panel clamps

What is a panel clamp?

A panel clamp is a mechanical fastening component used to clamp a plate or panel at the edge to hang it from a steel wire, Perlon cord, or rail system. Unlike a panel ridge, it is not always necessary to drill into the panel.

Within suspension systems for acoustic panels, displays, and signage, the panel clamp is also used as a detachable and adjustable suspension point.

Operation

• The clamp is slid over the edge of the panel.
• The clamping screw is tightened.
• The panel is mechanically secured without permanent damage.
• The top of the clamp is connected with steel wire or Perlon.

Advantages

• Drill holes in the panel are not always necessary
• Suitable for glass, PET, MDF, wood, and aluminum composite
• Easy to disassemble
• Sleek, visible finish possible
• Ideal for changing displays or temporary mounting

Applications

• Acoustic (PET) panels (5mm - 25mm)
• Glass and acrylic sheets
• Sign & exhibition systems
• Showroom and retail presentations
• Free-hanging ceiling panels

Specification Panel clamp – adjustable – for 5–25 mm panels

Professional panel clamp for suspending acoustic panels and display boards. Suitable for Perlon and steel cable systems. Easy to assemble, reusable, and sleekly finished. Ideal for flexible presentations and ceiling hangers.

Panel hooks

What is a panel hook?

A panel hook is a metal suspension component used to hang a panel directly from a steel wire, Perlon cord, or ceiling hanger. The hook typically engages with a loop, recess, hole, or edge of the panel, thus forming a quick and detachable suspension point.

Within suspension systems for acoustic panels, displays, and signage, the panel hook is often used when quick installation and flexibility are important.

Technical description

A panel hook typically consists of:

• Curved hook section (open or semi-closed shape)
• Mounting eyelet or threaded end (e.g. M4/M5)
• Optionally a locking tab or safety clip
• Material: galvanized steel, stainless steel or nickel-plated bronze

Typical characteristics:

• Suitable for panels with a pre-drilled hole or slot
• Applicable to 9 mm, 12 mm, or 25 mm PET panels
• Load capacity depending on version (e.g. 5–10 kg per hook)
• Compatible with perlon or steel cable systems

Operation

• The hook is placed in an opening or behind an edge of the panel.
• The top is connected to a cable or ceiling suspension.
• The panel hangs freely and can be easily removed or moved.

Advantages

• Reusable
• Compact and discreet
• Quick assembly without complex fastening
• Suitable for temporary or changing setups
• Ideal for ceiling hangers and cantilever panels

Applications

• Acoustic baffles (vertical ceiling panels)
• Showroom and retail presentations
• Stock exchange systems
• Lightweight wall panels

Panel screw-in systems

What is an acoustic panel screw-in system?

An acoustic panel screw-in system is a mechanical fastening solution that allows PET felt or other sound-absorbing panels to be mounted directly to the ceiling via an integrated screw/thread connection.

Instead of glue or clips, the panel is securely fixed with specially developed screw-in fasteners that ensure:

• Direct and permanent attachment
• High load capacity
• Precise positioning
• Easy assembly

Technical operation

The system typically consists of:

• Screw-in fastener/mounting screw/torque spring
• Often features a coarse thread for optimal grip in PET or MDF
• Countersunk head or flange head for flush finish
• Nickel-plated steel or stainless steel
• Wall plug or direct mounting
• Suitable for concrete, plaster, wood, or metal studs

The screw is screwed into the panel from the side or back and then attached to the floor or ceiling.

Applications

• Project-based office furnishing
• Hospitality and educational environments
• PET acoustic panels (9/12/18 or 25mm)

Assembly Specifications

The choice of panel mounting accessories depends on specific characteristics such as the panel material, weight, and desired aesthetics. Panel lugs and clamps are typically made of strong metal or high-quality plastic and are designed to be invisible after installation. Hooks can vary in size and load capacity, from a few kilograms to tens of kilograms per hook. Screw systems often feature corrosion-resistant coatings for durability, which is particularly important when used in damp environments. The accessories in our range have been tested for quality and safety.

What should you look for when choosing panel mounting accessories?

When choosing the right panel mounting accessories, you must take various factors into account. The type of panel you wish to mount determines which fastening method is most suitable. The weight of the panel is crucial for determining the required load-bearing capacity. The mounting location —wall, ceiling, or freestanding—influences the choice of system. You must also consider whether the mounting is permanent or temporary . Specific aesthetic requirements may limit the choice to invisible systems. The environment in which the panels are installed, such as damp rooms or outdoor locations, may require special corrosion-resistant accessories.

Assembly/installation of panel mounting accessories

The installation of panel mounting accessories varies by accessory type and requires different approaches:

Mounting with panel lugs

When using panel cams, these are usually installed by placing them in pre-drilled holes. After placement, you tighten the cam to hold the panels firmly in place. This method ensures invisible fastening.

Mounting with panel clamps

With clamp mounting, panel clamps are simply attached to the edge of the panel. You then clamp them to the desired structure without the need for drilling. This makes installation quick and damage-free.

Mounting with panel hooks

With hook systems, you attach the hooks to the back of the panel. Then, you hang the panel on a rail or hook on the wall. This method offers flexibility in height adjustment.

Mounting with panel screw-in systems

Preparation is important with the screw-in system. For screw mounting, first drill the correct holes and then tighten the screws firmly. This ensures that the panel does not shift or fall and offers maximum security.
